Time and again God tells us not to fear, and yet, we continue. God said “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God” in Isaiah 41:10 but we still fear. Over in Proverbs 3:5 we are told to “Trust in the Lord” and instead we fear. Even though it says “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” in Philippians 4:13 we do not hold to this truth, rather, we find ourselves fretting and worrying. Fear can and will cripple us but it does not have to. We can decide that fear will not have dominion in our lives and will not hold us back.
Fear is one of the most crippling aspects of life. Poor health, low income, disabilities, our circumstances, upbringing, not one of these aspects keep or hinder us from experiencing success. We may say these outside influences are that which hinder our growth and abilities but to say that is to lie. No, our greatest reason for not experiencing more success, for not doing the difficult things, not doing something amazing with our lives is due to the fear we allow our minds to cultivate. The mind can be a powerful thing but too often we allow it to cripple rather than push us forward.
January is quickly coming to an end. You may have decided and written out a goal to accomplish, something that you are fearful of performing. Face your fear and realize to overcome it will make you stronger whereas allowing the fear to stop you in your tracks will hinder you from achieving great and exciting things in this life.
Is fear holding you back?
