Too often confidence is an area lacking in many individuals lives (my own included). Even those who appear arrogant and prideful are often masking their lack of confidence.

Why is confidence a rarity? Fear is a frequent factor. Fear of not being a great parent, thinking you will never meet Mr. or Mrs. Right, not being able to keep up with the work load or knowing what to do, fearful we will look like a fool. Many of our fears are rooted in how we appear to others, how they will think of us. Our fears can, and many times do, hinder us from making decisions. They hold us back from experiencing great accomplishments.

God has a lot to say on the subject of fear. Time and again He tells us not to fear, to trust in Him. And yet, again and again we allow our fears to rule our lives. We allow them to hold us back from making decisions, or, cause us to make a safer decision. This is not what God has planned for our lives. He wants us to live doing great things for Him. We cannot though if we continually heed the fears we allow our minds to create and bend out of proportion. Instead, we aught to heed what God has told us and quit fearing and instead begin trusting.

I Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Proverbs 3:5+6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Luke 1:37 “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”

Mark 11:22 “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.”

Now is the time to stop allowing fear to control our lives and instead live by faith trusting God.

How can you, or how have you, taken a step away from fear and toward confidence?
